Our Wednesday Chat 9/12/18

September 13, 2018
By Jeremy Nicholas

Dear SA Family,

You may remember from my email to you at the end of August that I noted many great things already taking place this school year at SA, including having five seniors with an ACT score of 30 or better.  Well, we can add one more thing to the list of accomplishments for the school and this year’s senior class.

Senior Bates Bennett has become the first Starkville Academy student in over a decade to earn National Merit Semifinalist status, and he will continue in the competition for the chance to earn Finalist status later this year.  Less than 1% of U.S. high school seniors earn this distinction, so we are incredibly proud of Bates.  Well done, Mr. Bennett!

Upcoming Events:

It’s Homecoming Week this week at school, so make plans to come enjoy the festivities on Friday!  The annual parade begins at 9:30, and the homecoming court presentation starts at 10:15.   The pep rally and grade skits begin at 1:45 p.m., and the football game vs. Magnolia Heights kicks off at 7:00 p.m. (but come early for the parade of cars).

Our Lady Vols Soccer team will be back in action on Monday, Sept. 17th, at 5:00 p.m. at the Sportsplex.  Come cheer on our girls as they take on Columbus Christian Academy in district competition.

The Lady Vols Softball team will return home to play Leake Academy on Tuesday, Sept. 18th.  The varsity game will start at 4:00 p.m., and the JV game will start at 6:00 p.m.

The SA Athletic Booster Club is having a meeting next Tuesday the 18th at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.

Several SA Band members participated in the MSU Marching Honor Band Clinic on Saturday, Sept. 1st.  The event saw 280 high school members march along with the 400+ members of the Famous Maroon Band.  Congratulations to Eden Cain, Marilyn Cosby, Anna Rives Gully, Ragan Hubbard, Jillian Kelly, Madeline Kelly, Memory Shuffield, and Garrison Walker.

Things That You Can Do To Make Starkville Academy Better:

Always remember Starkville Academy in your prayers, specifically praying for wisdom for faculty, staff, and our students.

Be ready to jump in when your service is needed.  We can't reach our full potential without your support.

Communicate with family, friends, and folks in the community the reasons why you love SA, but please do so respectfully.

GO VOLS!!
