It is my pleasure to work with Starkville Academy juniors and seniors on an important school project-the development of our school yearbook “The Volition”. As the sole historians for the school, yearbook staff members have an enormous task ahead. We not only bear the responsibility of accurately covering the major school functions, but also strive to create a contemporary journalism package, which the student body can cherish for a lifetime.
This class goes beyond the mere rudiments of an elective; we are a business. Each year alone our staff is responsible for raising $34, 000 in revenues to cover the cost of the publications. Therefore, I expect the staff to give their full cooperation and professionalism to the task at hand. Each student shares in the responsibility of the production. Missed deadlines mean time and money; we cannot afford to lose either.

This program is designed to give your child marketable skills for the workplace as well as introducing students to computer programs such as Elitevision, Photoshop, and Microsoft Publisher. Yearbook class will be extremely rewarding and the group typically becomes a family unit as time progresses.

From time to time students will be asked to run errands to Wal-Mart, Starkville Daily News or local businesses for various reasons. All students must have a valid Driver’s License. I look forward to working with SA students and giving them yearbook memories which will last a lifetime.
