My love for teaching began long, long ago. I can't really remember ever wanting to do anything else. It is as if it were engrained into my very being; my family tree is rooted in school teachers. Family members who were teachers would bring me books about science or nature and often times take me out to show me various trees, or flowers that were in those books. I feel a great responsibility for teaching God's future generations. My mission in my classroom is to provide a safe/ welcoming environment that will allow for the children's individual learning methods to be fully utilized. I also stress that we should all think of and get along with one another. By utilizing varying teaching techniques all students should be able to learn throughout the day, including recess, P.E., music, and even lunch. I want to help prepare these students not just for the next grade but to help prepare them for all aspects of their lives. Starkville Academy has held a special place in my heart since I came here as a student in the 4th Grade. I returned to Starkville Academy after earning my college degrees; at that time I was teaching older elementary grades and soon realized that my gift was with the younger children. Since that transition I have been in Second Grade and for me it is just perfect.
I have two children enrolled at Starkville Academy; one in elementary the other in high school. I am married to Mack Fondren who works at Mississippi State. I am an active member of Maben Methodist Church where I serve on the board, and teach Sunday School. My hobbies are going to my boys' ballgames, reading, and working in my yard.
Proverbs 6:20-23
My son keep your father's commands, and don't forget your mother's
teaching. Keep their words in mind forever as though you had them tied
around your neck. They will guide you when you walk. They will guard you
when you sleep. They will speak to you when you are awake. These
commands are like a lamp; this teaching is like a light. And the
correction that comes from them will help you have life.
