The Starkville Academy Elementary Choir is an ensemble open to students in grades 3rd – 6th who are interested in music, singing, and dance. The Elementary Choir gives these students an opportunity to develop a love for music, performing, and singing with their peers at an early age. These young students showcased their talents last year with a production of Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker” as well as performances at the Christmas and Spring Choir Concerts. The SA Elementary Choir meets once a week under the direction of Ms. Jordan Dobbins.
The Starkville Academy Choir is an ensemble comprised of students in grades 7 – 12 that are dedicated to education of music and the arts. The SA Choir gives students an opportunity to learn an advanced and varied repertoire of music through participation and performance. Students will receive an education in music theory, music history as well as a chance to develop their vocal, team-building, and leadership skills. In the Fall, the Starkville Academy Choir will compete in one Choral Music Festival in Mississippi. Choir members also have the opportunity to participate in Honor Choir Clinics around the state. In the spring of 2016, 9 members of the choir were selected to attend clinics at Mississippi College and Delta State University. The goal of the Starkville Academy Choir is to provide an understanding and appreciation for the gift of music.
