Dear SA Family,

It’s hard to believe, but the start of school is now less than three weeks away.  But, before we begin on August 9th, there are a few events we wanted to make sure that you know about and will hopefully attend.

The first one is our annual Volunteer Army Work Day, which last year saw well over 100 parents, students, faculty, and alumni take part in the effort to beautify our campus for the start of school.  This year’s event is Saturday, July 29, from 8:30-11:30 AM, and you hopefully received an email yesterday with more details pertaining to the work day.  We would love to see 150 Volunteers at this year’s event.

Our second event reminder is for the appropriate Parent Orientation session(s) for your child/children.  We will be holding the PreK-2nd Grade Parent Orientation on Thursday, August 3, at 5:30 PM and also the 3rd-6th Grade Parent Orientation that same night at 6:30 PM.  This year, there will be no general assembly meeting, so you simply need to report to your child’s classroom for these sessions.  A letter from your child’s teacher for 2017-18 will be mailed towards the end of next week.  On Monday, August 7, the 7th Grade Parent Orientation will be in the gym at 5:30 PM, followed by the 8th-12th Grade Parent Orientation at 6:00 PM that will take place in your child’s respective homeroom class.  Schedules for 7th-12th grade students will be mailed by the end of next week.

Our next two events are both scheduled for Tuesday, August 8.  Our “Teacher Meet-and-Greet” is from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM, and we encourage you and your children to come meet their teacher(s), put supplies in their lockers if they are old enough to have them, and enjoy seeing friends and former teachers before the start of school.  Later that night, we invite you to attend our annual “Meet the Vols” program at 6:00 PM, where we showcase all of the student athletes who are participating in our various teams and clubs.

Obviously, there’s a lot going on leading up to the first day of school, but we encourage you to attend as many events as you can.  Let’s start this year with enthusiasm and make this year our best one yet!

GO VOLS!
